Paraty

Monumento histórico nacional desde 1966, a cidade de Paraty e seus arredores são testemunhos da história do Brasil desde o século XVII. Com uma arquitetura colonial quase intocada, ela nos ensina sobre a importância de manter vivos e preservados monumentos arquitetônicos e culturais. Praticamente isolada e abandonada até 1950, a cidade se manteve como no final do século passado. Andar pelo calçamento de pedra das ruas de Paraty com olhos atentos é uma experiência enriquecedora. Os detalhes estão em todos os lugares, formando um conjunto único de sensações. Contudo, além da riqueza do seu centro histórico, o mar e as matas em volta compõem um marco natural da região, complementando a história com paisagens belíssimas e locais preservados. Esse contexto ideal atraiu e continua atraindo artistas de diversas áreas, que acabam se instalando por lá. Pintores, ceramistas, tapeceiros e artesãos interagem com a cidade, retratando-a de muitas maneiras. É dentro desse cenário inspirador que a UGGI propõe ao aluno o olhar investigativo e contemplativo, onde a percepção torna-se fundamental para a verdadeira compreensão do momento histórico. Para nós, desenvolver isso nos jovens é parte integrante de um trabalho consciente em busca de uma educação abrangente e enriquecedora. Portanto, no estudo da cidade de Paraty torna-se indispensável o desenvolvimento desses aspectos interiorizantes e criativos de cada um, além dos muitos elementos históricos e geográficos que a região nos oferece.

A National Historic Monument since 1966, the town of Paraty and its surroundings bear witness to the history of Brazil since the 17th century. With an almost untouched colonial architecture, it teaches us about the importance of keeping architectural and cultural monuments alive and preserved.

Virtually isolated and abandoned until 1950, the town has remained much as it was at the end of the 19th century. Walking along the cobblestone streets of Paraty with attentive eyes is an enriching experience. The details are everywhere, forming a unique set of sensations. However, in addition to the richness of its historic center, the sea and the surrounding forests make up a natural landmark of the region, complementing history with beautiful landscapes and preserved sites.

This ideal context has attracted and continues to attract artists from various fields, who end up settling there. Painters, ceramists, tapestry makers and artisans interact with the town, portraying it in many ways. It is within this inspiring scenario that UGGI proposes to the student the investigative and contemplative look, where perception becomes fundamental for the true understanding of the historical moment.

For us, developing this in young people is an integral part of a conscious work in search of a comprehensive and enriching education. Therefore, in the study of the town of Paraty it becomes indispensable to develop these internalizing and creative aspects of each one, in addition to the many historical and geographical elements that the region offers us.
